Note for:   Jane Beebe,   20 OCT 1901 -          Index

Betty Sullivan remembers that one of her dad's sisters who was known as
Jenny and is presumed to be Jane, stayed with her mother (Ethel) and
looked after Betty when she was a baby.
This places Jane in England around 1921.
She was "a very pretty girl" and may have gone to America.
Bill, William Beebe, in Australia, gave Betty a list of his brothers and
sisters names and among them was Jenny not Jane this confirms that in the
family she was known as Jenny rather than Jane.

Note for:   William Beeby,   ABT. 1817 - AFT. 1891         Index

1881 census suggest born in 1816 but 1851 census gives his age as 31
which means born in 1820 (in Northamptonshire). It seems possible that
his father was also called William as a William Beeby was a witness at
his wedding in Bedford.
1851 census gives his birthplace as Titmas in Northamptonshire. This is
in fact Titchmarsh. There are no Beeby's in Oundle and Titchmarsh is a
few miles south east of Oundle.
There are several Beeby's in Tichmarsh although I cannot track this
William beyond any doubt.
1841 census for Keysoe shows William Beeby age 24 (i.e. born abt 1817),
an ag lab, not born in Bedfordshire, living with wife Mary (26) also not
born in Bedfordshire, daughter Eliza aged 2 and daughter Elizabeth age 6
months. The two daughters were born in Bedfordshire.
Probably died after November 1882 as he is not shown as deceased on his
wife Mary death certificate.
1861 census for Bedford, St Pauls, West Ward, address 17 Gravel Lane,
shows William age 44, a labourer in iron foundry yard, born Keysoe, with
his family. This suggests a birth date of 1817.
1891 census shows William age 73, a widower and labourer, born in
Bedford, lodging at 18 Beauchamp Rd. Bedford St Paul. No sign of any
other Beebys in the area.

at the time of her Baptism, and Silas as a labourer. Now thought to have

Notes

Note for:   Mary Ann Safford,   ABT. 1815 - 1 NOV 1882         Index

1851 census gives age as 32 which makes dob 1819. Also gives county of
birth as Cambridgeshire.
Marianne, daughter of James and Anne Safford, was baptised in 1815 in
Cambridge, I assume this was her.
St Catherines House death register shows a Mary Ann Beebe died in the
fourth quarter (Oct/Nov/Dec) 1882 aged 68, registered in Bedford. i.e.
born 1814. This death certificate confirms that she is wife of William
Beebe, a gardener. Mary died of Apoplexy (a stroke). The informant was
her daughter in law Martha Beebe who was present at the death at 7,
Allhallows Lane, Bedford on Nov 1st 1882.
Possible candidates for a marriage to a Martha are William or Samuel.
Baptisms of Eliza and Elizabeth both show mother as "Mary Ann Beebey,
late Safford".
With William and her children on 1861 census, a 46 year old lace maker
born in Cambridge. This suggests a birth date of 1815.
