Dear Les,
This is just a quick note on the run to say that the Maidstone archivist
got
back to me with the name of Arthur Woollett's second wife in
Hollingbourne.
He said it is clearly Alice Adiy. Apparently it was confirmed by more
than
one achivist there. It was hard to read because it had been written over
at
some later date with a different pen. Apparently over the "i" had been
written an "as" or "es". I had never seen the name Adiy before, but the
archivist assured me it is a valid Kent name.
Thanks for all your help and I'll keep in touch.
